Will this replace my receptionist?

No — it complements her. The bot handles the 60-80% of repetitive questions (insurance acceptance, hours, basic pricing) so she can focus on the patient interactions that need a human. Most practices keep the same staff, the bot just absorbs after-hours + the questions that would otherwise interrupt her work.

What about HIPAA — can I use this in a dental practice?

Yes — Lumobot is designed as a privacy-first front-desk assistant that minimizes PHI exposure: it captures pre-patient website inquiries (name, phone, what they're asking about) and routes clinical questions back to your team, rather than asking about symptoms, diagnoses, or treatment history. We don't connect to charts, treatment records, or your PMS. Lumobot is not currently marketed as HIPAA compliant and we don't sign BAAs; the practice remains responsible for its own HIPAA obligations. Full posture at /compliance.

Will the bot make stuff up about my services or insurance?

We engineer against it. The bot answers from your structured data first (services, insurance accepted, hours, FAQs you configure). When asked something not in your data, it says "I don't have that — let me have someone follow up" instead of guessing. Strict-answer mode (Settings → toggle) goes further. We also run a hallucination grader that flags suspicious answers for your review.

What if my patients prefer to call the office?

The bot recognizes phone-preference and gives them your number immediately — no "can I get your name first" friction. Phone-preferring patients (often older, often emergencies) call the office; the bot captures everyone else who would otherwise just close the tab.

How long until I see my first new-patient lead?

Most practices with 1000+ monthly website visitors see their first lead within 24-48 hours. Lower-traffic sites may take a week. If you're getting widget loads but no conversations after 7 days, the issue is usually the greeting; we have a quick tune-up checklist to fix it.

Does it work with my practice management software?

Indirectly via webhooks. Pro plan ships a webhook on every new lead — point it at Zapier, Make, or n8n, which connects to most PMS systems (Eaglesoft, Open Dental, Dentrix, etc.) via their existing connectors. Standard plan exports leads as CSV. We don't have direct PMS integrations yet; if you need one to close, email mike@lumobot.io and we'll prioritize.
